Retinal Detachment Treatment in Delhi | Best Retina Specialist in Delhi NCR
Retinal detachment is a serious eye condition where the retina, a thin light-sensitive layer at the back of the eye, separates from its normal position. When this happens, the retina cannot properly transmit visual signals to the brain, leading to sudden vision disturbances or even permanent vision loss if untreated.
Common warning signs include flashes of light, a sudden increase in floaters, blurred vision, or a curtain-like shadow over the field of vision. Since retinal detachment progresses silently, early diagnosis by a retina specialist in Delhi NCR is critical.
This condition is considered a medical emergency and requires immediate retina treatment. Risk factors include ageing, high myopia (near-sightedness), eye trauma, previous eye surgeries, or diabetes.
At AKIO, advanced retinal detachment treatment is performed using cutting-edge technologies such as 3D vitrectomy, laser procedures, and micro-incision surgery. Early intervention by an experienced retina specialist significantly improves the chances of vision recovery.

We visited the hospital for my mother’s eye surgery for (retina detachment) and everything went smoothly and can simply say it was the best decision we took. The matters of eye are intricate and I personally don’t think any other place would’ve handled the case with such ease. From scheduling the surgery, to operation to post op care, all was great. This is not just my opinion but almost every other patient we came across and spoke to. Dr Atul a big thanks to you and your team for helping thousands of people see things again.
Overall, the ambiance is good. However, the only thing I feel is lacking is the reception area lighting, which is very bright. It was irritating for my dad and some other patients as well. As an eye center, the interior should be dimmer. Just a genuine suggestion.
Couple of things I ddnt appreciate- admonishing the previous doctors & condemning them. Quoting different prices by staff for the same treatment or tests. Creating anxiety & urgency for treatment. Patient needs to absorb and think and decide.
Advanced 3D Retina Surgery in Delhi
Operating on the microscopic tissues of the eye requires precise technology. We use advanced 3D visualisation systems for complex retinal surgeries.
Better Precision: Surgeons view a highly magnified, high-resolution 3D projection of the retina on a massive screen, allowing for micron-level exactness.
Safer Surgery: Enhanced depth perception drastically reduces the risk of damaging surrounding healthy tissue.
Faster Recovery: Smaller, more exact movements inside the eye mean significantly less surgical trauma.
Fewer Complications: Superior illumination and visualisation lead to safer, more predictable outcomes, even in the most severe detachments.
Types of Retinal Detachment:
- Rhegmatogenous: Caused by retinal tears due to ageing or vitreous changes.
- Tractional: Common in diabetic patients due to scar tissue pulling the retina.
- Exudative: Due to fluid accumulation under the retina from inflammation or vascular disorders.
- Vitrectomy: The surgeon physically enters the eye, removes the pulling gel, drains the trapped fluid, and reattaches the retina.
- Scleral Buckling: The surgeon places a flexible silicone band around the outside of the eye to gently push the wall against the detached retina.
- Laser Surgery: For very early tears, we create precise micro-burns to weld the retina shut before a full detachment occurs.
Choosing the right retinal detachment surgery in Delhi is critical to restoring your sight safely.
